Officially an Adult

Well. I'm 21. Which is so young. But also the perfect number for adulthood. Yes, I am aware that I was technically an adult at 18, but now it's official. Here's some pictures from my big day.

My first birthday party was at BJ's for lunch. And they give you a free Pizookie!! It was wonderful.
And then at my second party at Applebee's I got a free sundae! (Ignore the crazy eyes. I was super excited about that thing.)
What a wonderful group of people! They made my birthday soooo fantastic!!!

And on a completely unrelated note:
My roommate is engaged!!!! And I take full credit for this. Well, maybe not full credit. But I did introduce them way back at Earn Your Wings freshmen year. So some credit is due to me.

What a Semester!

So it seems I have been slightly remiss on my blog duties. To make up for it, here is my past semester in 17 pictures.

We'll start with Spring Sing!!

Some lovely Pi girls at my house helping us make those GORGEOUS wedding dresses!

Taking a break at B-Dub's after Final Approval. Me, Aaron, Lane.

My amazing co-director, Kailee, and myself running our show in the gym.

Two of my friends from home came to visit! Dith, Anna, Me.

All my Pi girls!!! So proud of them!

In the midst of Spring Sing, my parents hosted a review-type show at my school. Dad, Sister, Mom, Me.

Then there was Pi Banquet:

Awkward prom picture before banquet. I'll just name the girls. Me, Bekah, Kailee, Stephanie.

My wonderful friend and co-director, Kailee.

My date and good friend, Aaron.

Then there was a "thrift-store prom" for Pi and Kappa. (Two clubs on campus.)

My friend Shawn and I.

All semester long, several of my friends and I have been coaching LTC at our church. So Easter weekend we went to Dallas. But first we made a stop by Babe's Chicken:

Holly, Rebekah, Lane, Aaron, Me

Me and Aaron with our drama team.

Lane, Me, Aaron

Yesterday was Kappa (a boy club here on campus) Banquet! We spent all day at the zoo and then had a semi-formal banquet that night. It was SOOO fun!

All the ladies. Bailey, Stephanie, Bekah, Kailee, Me.

Bekah and I all dressed up at night.

Pi girls doing the Pi face and sign at Kappa banquet.

Aaron and I at BJ's after banquet.

All in all, it's been a great semester. It's probably been one of the hardest in my college career, academically, relationally, emotionally, you name it, but it's also been one of the best. I have an amazing group of friends and I'm just loving life!

Now I have to go out and celebrate my birthday. That's right. I am 21 today!

Hope everyone's having a wonderful Sunday.

Just Two More Weeks

Until Spring Sing. 2 weeks from tonight it will all be over. And I will get my life back. What in the world will that be like??

Last night after our 6 hour practice, a group of my friends was in my apartment talking about (what else?) Spring Sing. Two of us had just practiced for 6 hours, two of the others had been at our practice for 2 hours, and we had been talking about Spring Sing for about an hour and a half. I looked around the room at one point and said, "Guys. What are we going to talk about when Spring Sing's over?" To which my friend wittingly replied, "Nothing. We'll just sit and stare at each other."

He might be right.

I'll let you know in 2 weeks.

We're All in the Same Boat

Meet my new friend:

Her name is Jillian and she's super-motivational. Today was day 2 of 30 Day Shred. Lemme tell ya. I am feeling it.

Let me introduce you to the reason (well 2 reasons) for this new friend of mine:

There you have it.
#1: Spring Sing. As co-director, I'm on the front row a large majority of the time. No one wants to see a bride up there who can't catch her breath long enough to finish the show. Or one song. It's whatever really.
#2: Cruise Control. I am going on a cruise with 3 of my friends in May. I. Can't. Wait. I've never been on a cruise. However, I also haven't been in a swimsuit in awhile.

So here's to new friends. And 30 Day Shred. Let's hope it works because this not being able to move thing is not very enjoyable.

In Full Swing

Everything is in full swing! LTC. Spring Sing. Music History. Spring Sing. Trigonometry. Spring Sing. Other Pi stuff. Oh, and did I mention Spring Sing?

It's consuming my time. Just eating it right up. But I kinda love it. I love seeing the show come together and seeing all the girls have fun together while learning the choreography. I love my co-director and can't imagine what this semester would have been like had we not been friends. I love just being in charge of something. (Shocking. I know.)

So now we're just 3 weeks out. We're teaching our last song tonight and then we will have our WHOLE SHOW learned. We have 30-some-odd veils made. 6 or so dresses completed with many more on the way. All the shoes bought. All the lock-ins settled. Blurb location well under way. Music ready this weekend.

I'm feeling good about it.

Now I just need to go study for all my tests. And do my homework. What? I still go to school? Crazy.

Blessed Be Your Name

It's been a rough week for a lot of people on campus.

Spring Sing is in full swing.
Everyone is having their first (or second and third) tests of the semester.
There was an enormous ice storm this weekend.
So many relationships are stressed and strained.
And there was a death on campus this weekend.

Tonight in class, Jeff (our campus minister) read a wonderful Psalm that has never really caught my attention like it did tonight.

Psalm 42

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food
       day and night,
while men say to me all day long,
       "Where is your God?"
 4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go with the multitude,
leading the procession to the house of God,
with shouts of joy and thanksgiving
       among the festive throng.
5 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
       Why so disturbed within me?

       Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and 6 my God.

       My [c] soul is downcast within me;
       therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
 7 Deep calls to deep
       in the roar of your waterfalls;
       all your waves and breakers
       have swept over me.
8 By day the LORD directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I say to God my Rock,
       "Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
       oppressed by the enemy?"
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
       as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
       "Where is your God?"
11 Why are you downcast, O my soul?
       Why so disturbed within me?

       Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
       my Savior and my God.

Put your hope in God. So simple. Yet something that I fail to do on an everyday basis.
